How to mix high-fashion and Halloween to create a stylish, spooktacular costume
If you are seeking inspiration from the looks of our favourite celebrities and designer this Halloween, forget sexy nurses and saucy sorcerers, it is time to try something new, cool and a little bit different.
Here is my recommendation for a spooktacular outfit with a fashionista take on it…
- The makeup…
Face painting was actually quite popular on the runways for next season. Imagine this; Vivienne Westwood inspired makeup from her Spring/Summer 2014 collection; ghostly, ghoulish and all together ghastly, while still looking impressively stylish. For a more subtle sci-fi style, check out Chanel’s psychedelic eye makeup up. Mask makeup also seems to be in; think a bag of skittles exploding over Zoro’s mask!
- The costume…
Seek inspiration from Lady Gaga’s Born This Way video and tux yourself out with the new must have addition to any hipster’s wardrobe, Traxedoz. It’s the hilarious mix up of a classic black tie tuxedo and an uber comfortable tracksuit! Comfort and style can now be achieved at the same time. Taking smart/casual to the extreme, they have an array of different colours for men, women and for children aged 3-9. You can order them now at a special discounted price from www.traxedoz.com
- The hair…
Wig it up! If dressing up or painting your face sounds like far too much effort, raid your local hair shop and get a hair piece, wig or extensions. Gaga wore a pink wig with side ponytail in her video but get inspiration from the look and do your own version. Channel a bob with a flick like Chanel’s SS14 show, or try a black cropped boyish wig like Fendi did on their runway. If you’re feeling creative how about spray painting a hair piece with stripes like Rodarte. Channel your animalistic side with this subtle yet effective idea for Halloween.
So there you have it, a fashionista’s take on Gaga’s skeleton look…give it a try.
Happy Halloween everyone
